Going Nuts For Coconuts!

Going Nuts For Coconuts!

The humble coconut – Apart from that fact that it accounts for 8 deaths a year by dropping on holiday maker’s heads, the coconut is one of the biggest unsung heroes of the beauty world! We believe in making sustainable beauty products that work really well, so that’s why we use coconut in so many of our products so you can feel the benefit for yourself!

The benefits of using coconut oil for your skin are huge! Not only does it make your skin feel soft and smooth, but the benefits run much deeper (literally). Because coconut oil is made up of fatty acids, it penetrates the upper epidermis and allows your skin to hold in moisture. This hydration is the key to why it helps your skin benefit from its other properties, namely removing fine lines, wrinkles, calming temporary redness and soothing irritated skin… basically everything my skin has been through during this heatwave! On that note, we love a good exfoliation. But did you know that along with these hydration and absorption superpowers, it makes coconut oil a brilliant base for exfoliants? That’s right, next time you want to exfoliate, using a coconut oil body bar first will really help you get the benefits and prevent your skin from irritating as easily.

The best part though, coconut is great for all skin types so no one feels left out! Sensitive skin is its forte, but all skin types will still feel hydrated and moisturised… as well as thoroughly looked after. If you want to try this miracle ingredient for yourself, try the coconut body bar!

Remember those fatty acids? Well turns out that they don’t just help absorb into your skin, but they also absorb into the scalp and hair follicle. I will just let that sink in – that was an awful joke wasn’t it sorry. Anyway. This means your hair and scalp absorb all these vitamins and minerals, making your hair growth thicker and your hair healthier. It will also prevent something called ‘sebum’ from building up in your hair follicles (we won’t go down that rabbit hole now) which basically translates to speeding up hair growth. Looking at it for purely aesthetic reasons too: coconut oil will make your hair look shiny and healthy. This is because the oil is hydrophobic and will block out water.

Again, coconut can be used for all hair types. If you would like to try this out for yourself, I would recommend having a look at our shampoo and conditioner bars. This way you can enjoy the coconut, but not destroy the lovely beaches that so many live on.
