As its national relaxation day, we thought it would be a great idea to share some tips on how to best unwind in the bath. These life hacks are great after a long or stressful day where an unwind is mandatory… and good for you too!
Keep that pesky phone away
Does Sandra need that social update done STAT? Does the mother-in-law have another passive aggressive message about a recent dinner part or your new kitchen? Well. Tough! This is the ultimate me time, and for the next 30 mins it is your relaxation that is priority, not Sandra. What we recommend is that you keep all phones and tech strictly outside. Get the temperature right
A warm bath is best for relaxation, and by warm, I mean warm not hot! This is important for a few reasons. First, you aren’t a packet of instant rice, second, if a bath is too hot it can start to make you dizzy! Dizziness isn’t relaxing or recommended. Also, your skin will be irritated, and you will start to lose all those lovely natural oils that FOAMIE has been promoting since day one.
A fluffy towel and bathrobe are key
If you ask any sports person, the post workout is just as important as the main event. Same with your bath! We recommend a lovely fluffy towel and bathrobe to get you ready for bed or if you want your relaxation to carry on post submersion… that sentence sounded a lot more technical than it is, didn’t it? Anyhow. An amazing life hack: Warm your towel robe up whilst in the bath! A warm towel makes it slightly easier to get out of the bath and face the world again and is such a comfortable sensation. The fluffiness of the ‘post-bathtime drytime impliment’ is also crucial for other reasons. If you are bathing in some lovely bathtime products (cough cough... FOAMIE) you want that on your skin still. Using a fluffy towel will help your skin retain all of that goodness, making it continue working throughout the evening.
Bath time is an important time for a few reasons. Firstly, you get to use your favourite FOAMIE product, secondly you get to have control over your space. To make the most of your freedom, light some candles (away from curtains obviously), dim the lights or set up some fairy lights, and lastly get yourself a mug of tea or even wine (depending on the day you have had it might need to be a wine bath… we don’t judge ). At this time, it is also good to listen to a podcast, audiobook or even read a book. A great story can get us out of a negative situation and give us an escape. Even Netflix is helpful in this situation, but preferably stay away from staring at a screen and give your eyes a break.
Get the right products for you!There is no shortage of products that you can use in the bath. From bath bombs to scented oils some people love them, others hate them, and that’s fine. What we would say is to minimise plastic usage, other than that you do you! We have developed products to suit most types of skin and hair, so definitely get yourself online and have a look out for what you feel you need in your life. This goes for the post-bath routine too. You need to make sure that your skin is moisturised as soon as you get out of the bath to prevent it drying out. To do this, we would recommend using our Moisturising Body Butter!
